From Racing Club Warwick FC Bench Reveal-Warwick - Legend on the Bench

On 12 May 2026, Legend on the Bench Charity proudly unveiled the Warwick Suicide Prevention Bench, a powerful symbol of hope, remembrance, conversation, and community.

The turnout today for the Bench unveiling was superb, with local MP Matt Western in attendance, chairman of the football Club Gary Vella, academy head coach Matt Nutt and the boys and girls from the academy. Along with other members of the community and our very own Local Champions Colin Merryweather who had travelled a 150 miles to be there

The reveal as always was inspiring and marked far more than the installation of a bench. It represented a commitment to breaking the silence surrounding mental health and suicide prevention, while creating a permanent place where people can pause, reflect, talk, and feel less alone

Located at Racing Club Warwick FC in the heart of Warwick, the bench now stands as a reminder that every conversation matters and every life matters.

Major sponsors for raising  the funds for the Bench were Hardeep Malle a lovely gentleman who attended with his wife and The railway football tournament charity. Thank you to you all for your support and your presence, you are helping our charity save lives..

MP Matt Western spoke very supportive and important words about our campaign and Mental Health as the young budding footballers and attendees listened in attentively. Thank you Matt your support is very much appreciated.

A heart felt thank you to Gary Vella who was the main instigator of having this Bench placed in Warwick and also spoke during the reveal about the importance of visible spaces for reflection and connection. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with you and thank you for the tour of your stadium, I loved it. Keep up the great job you are doing for the football club and the local community.
