Racing Club Warwick came back from 3-1 down at HT to earn a well deserved point at high flying Swifts on Tuesday night.
Warwick started with some good possession but mistakes at the back again cost them dearly. Too easily lost possession early on in the first third and the opening goal came all too easily as Brandon Ganley was left exposed with a one on one and he was adjudged to have brought down the Swifts man. Up stepped Jack Watts to fire home the penalty past Ganley, who was looking to save a third successive penalty against him.
It took just two more minutes for the hosts to extend the lead when a cross ball wasn't dealt with and was fired home from close range. Ganley then pulled off a fine stop and it looked like Swifts would rack up a cricket score with Warwick all at sea but Nick Seabourne superbly guided a header home from a cross from Callum Maspers to reduce the arrears against the run of play. Sam Jackson was suddenly receiving more of the ball and causing issues down the left and Warwick finally looked more composed when Swifts scored a sucker punch goal to go into half time deservedly 3-1 to the good.
After Saturday's goal fest the talk at half time was which Racing would come out second half and to their delight the game was turned upside down. Warwick pressed and pressed and played their football from higher up the pitch and it was a constant wave of attack with Jackson on the left and Tyreece Ruddock on the right being fed by Luke Rowe, Riley Keasey and Tom Smith. Adam Miles was shipped into the centre of defence and every attack Swifts now mustered was repelled by Miles and Mason Rowley and another Racing attack begun. It was Rowley who made the run to the back post from a Warwick free kick taken superbly by Luke Rowe and he guided his header into the corner on 60 minutes. The equaliser was special and well deserved. Seabourne picked up the ball on the edge of the right side of the box, after Adam Miles had driven forward for 50 yards, and shifted it to his right before unleashing a superb curling effort past the keepers right hand.
Sam Jackson fired just wide in the closing minutes as the game ended in a probably deserved draw after a real game of two halves.
Warwick travel to Boldmere St Michael's on Saturday.
