Racing Club Warwick travelled to free scoring Long Eaton and were unfortunate not to bring away a point at least.
Long Eaton had scored 24 goals in thee first 4 league games but it was a penalty that decided the game with Warwick ruing a few missed chances throughout the game.
Long Eaton started brightly and an Alex Marshall snap shot went just wide right at the start. Nick Seabourne almost flicked in a Sam Jackson corner before some delightful build up play saw Jackson slip in Seabourne but his shot was stopped on the line. Tom Smith then tested the keeper with a stinging shot before a Luke Rowe free-kick was claimed by the Long Eaton stopper. But for all Racing's good play it was a penalty awarded to Long Eaton that opened the scoring on 24 minutes. A long throw into the box was not cleared and it was unclear who fouled who but a penalty was given despite protests from Warwick. Up stepped Jamie Walker to slot home left footed. Brandon Ganley did well to tip away another long throw into the Racing area and Racing debutant Tyreece Ruddock did well out right to feed Smith but his turn and shot went wide.
Second half and Long Eaton continued to bomb the Racing area with long throws at every opportunity with Ganley again saving well from one arrow in particular. James Shaw got away from the Racing back line but his shot was dragged wide as the hosts looked to extend the lead. Both Ruddock and Jackson created chances for themselves but both times the keeper claimed easily. Reece Ford was then adjudged to bundle over Alex Marshall in the box but Ganley saved superbly the spot kick from Alex Walker. Racing now pressed forward and a typical run by Jackson saw him fizz a great ball into the box but agonisingly it evaded everybody. A Tory Herbert one-two with Smith saw his shot well saved and Herbert then held up the ball well for Smith who's shot went just wide.
Racing having played some delightful football will feel they did enough to get something from the game and they host Tividale on Tuesday evening looking to get back to winning ways.
There will be a minutes applause on Tuesday evening for Bobby Hancocks who sadly died last week.
