Racing Club Warwick put on a commanding performance against Boldmere St Michaels in their first home fixture since promotion to the Midlands Premier.
Following on from Saturday's opener at Long Eaton where a last minute penalty denied the Racers an opening day three points, Warwick started brightly and Adam Miles came close to adding to his opening day double when denied by the Mikes stopper early on.
A crunching tackle by Joe Smith early on indicated Racings intent on being strong in the tackle and hard to break down and so it showed throughout with Smith, Sean Castleton and skipper Scott Turner solid throughout.
Jarrell Hylton and Mussy Nduna were looking sharp up top and mustered a few half chances but it was Boldmere who struck first when Knight's effort evaded Scott Turners head to deceive Charlie Bannister at the far post. Boldmere stepped up the game and came close to adding a second after a long range effort thundered against the bar. With Boldmere now getting on top it was Racing who then equalised when Hylton was sent through before rounding the keeper who caught the striker but Hylton kept his feet to coolly fire into the net.
Second half and Racing stormed out of the blocks. A mesmerising cross from Josh Cole saw Danny Fraser head home at the far post to give Racing the lead on 49 minutes. Brauns then got a booking for Boldmere when it could of been a red after bringing down Hylton. Fraser came close again before he did get his second. From a free-kick where Lyng was booked for the Mikes, Frasers deep threatening ball went straight into the top far corner. Lyng then got his marching orders for a second yellow that probably deserved a straight red and Racing were now very much in the ascendancy. George Curry had been introduced into the middle and was pulling the strings constantly and Danny Brain and Fraser were tearing Boldmere apart on the wings. Boldmere then struck a post with a fine effort before Nduna kept his cool to slot home after a powerful run in on goal. Brain got a 5th on 72 minutes to cap an excellent game for both himself and Fraser.
Racing took advantage of the extra man and cushion now to play some good keep ball and keep some energy in the tank for Saturday's FA cup clash versus Wulfrunians at Townsend Meadow.
