Racing Club Warwick returned to winning ways after their midweek defeat at Heather. With injuries preventing Centre-Halves Jamie Coleman and Joe Smith from playing, Rich Powell again deputised at the back with Martin Hutchcox with Wade Malley partnering the returning Trea Bertie up front and a welcome return for John Blunsom from long term injury on the bench.
Warwick started brightly with Bertie getting away from the left back on two occasions before a poor tackle by the Lichfield Captain Thurstance saw him with a straight red on just four minutes. The man advantage seemed to affect Warwick more and on 14 minutes the hosts took the lead when Black scored the opener. Massamba then struck the post for Lichfield before a Wade Malley free-kick was well saved by the Lichfield keeper. With half time approaching Warwick equalised when a Malley flick saw Bertie control well before firing in a powerful shot that beat Jenkins.
Second half and Powell moved forward with Passey dropping into defense, with Ellis replacing Captain Price. Warwick were stretching the ten men now and it paid off after sustained pressure. A martin Slevin corner was powerfully headed in by Powell on 68 minutes.
Warwick comfortably saw out the game and will travel to Walsall wood on Tuesday for their Quarter Final clash in the League Cup before hosting Stafford Town on Saturday.
