Racing Club Warwick went into their final home game knowing victory against an in-form Heather would secure a top six finish, something the club hadn't achieved since 1989. With the clubs Mini Racers leading the teams out and following the Bank Holiday narrow victory over struggling Southam, Racing knew they would need to lift their performance and they started quickly as a snapshot from just inside the box flew narrowly wide of the post. Then a through ball by Brown was intercepted by keeper Allsop who's fumble gave Malley a simple finish. James Coleman came close to doubling Warwick's lead, as his deflected shot looped onto the crossbar. Heather had to make some enforced changes due to injuries and only a fantastic piece of defending by the Saints back line prevented Racing from extending their lead. Brown found himself one on one forcing a save out of keeper Allsop and with the rebound falling to Malley he lashed a shot was brilliantly saved by a sliding block from Callum Rudd. Racer's Piggot made a good save from a Healy shot and Ebanks dragged a shot wide.
Second half and Brown dragged a shot wide but the second half was void of too many chances and Racing looked relatively comfortable but there was always the chance Heather could spoil the party. The game was put beyond the visitors reach on 84 with a well worked free-kick. Instead of going for goal, Slevin placed a well weighted through ball into the box between defenders, finding Hutchcox who finished smartly.
Racing travel to Leicester road on Saturday in their final game of the season in a guaranteed sixth place which will see them qualify for the FA Cup.
