Racing Club Warwick went to Leicestershire with their opponents hot on their heals and knowing a win was badly needed to help secure a coverted FA cup place. With recent disappointing draws against lowly opposition, Racing looked as though another lacklustre performance was on the menu as they played out a first half where they were second best by a long distance to their hosts. The only real chance for Warwick fell to Malley but the keeper saved well. Heather took the lead on 18 minutes when Ebanks all too easily fired into the bottom corner. The lead was doubled on 37 when Gyasi turned Hutchcox to fire home from close distance. Second half and it was all change! A fit again Joe Ashworth came on with Mannion and Racing came out of the blocks as if the recent form had been erased from memories. Ashworth, sitting in front of Price and Slevin and allowing them to pull the strings, exhumed a vaunting air of superiority and broke up any Heather threat high up the pitch. On 59, Slevin tucked away the penalty after the defender handled. Malley then equalised after a fine ball from Wright saw him outpace and out muscle the defender before firing high into the net. Brown then took the plaudits after racing half the length of the pitch from a Slevin ball slotting home with aplomb. The points were wrapped up on 90 when Price split the Heather backline and Malley tucked home the rebound after his initial shot was saved well. Racing host title chasing Bromsgrove on Tuesday evening.
