Racing Club Warwick put on a classy first half performance against second placed Nuneaton and but for some good goalkeeping from Nuneaton stopper Belford and a tad more luck on their side would of romped away by half time. Smith and Malley both had shots saved and The Nuneatonians next had a let off as a lovely pass by Smith put Wade Malley through, Belford blocked nicely but Morton’s follow-up shot cannoned off the near post and away. Smith then fired an effort over just over after beating the right back and driving inside. Just when it looked like Nuneaton had weathered the storm, Racing were awarded a penalty when Smith was bundled over by the centre half. The usually cool Smith stepped up but blazed the shot over. As half time approached the impressive Price sent Brown down the right and after controlling on his chest smashed the ball across the keeper into the top left from twenty five yards out and at a tight angle. It was the minimum Racing deserved for a majestic and controlled first half. Second Half and Nuneaton looked to push men forward and came close when a Reader cross saw a Tullin header crash back off the bar while up the other end Malley won a tussle for the ball but fired across goal as the keeper advanced. Jamie Smith hit the post before the visitors got their reward for a great second half response on seventy minutes as the ball was worked down the right before a switch inside to Palmer saw him cross low for Brennan, and although the outstanding Caviezel-Cox got a touch as he dived to intercept, Griff’s leading scorer was able to prod it just inside the far post. Racing brought on Joe Wright signed from Leamington Hibs and he shot at the keeper after a fine turn.

Excellent entertainment, and while both sides would have taken a victory, a point each was probably the right result over the ninety minutes.
