Injury ravaged Racers back on track

Racing Club Warwick arrived in Pershore looking to bounce back from the defeat to Hinckley with a threadbare squad as the injury crisis continued. Buswell and Reynolds were joined by Checketts and Brown on the injury table and the influential Slevin was missing after the birth of his Son the previous day. Smith and Price had early efforts saved by the keeper and Malley headed wide before Pershore got into the game. When they did, Caveizel-Cox was the busiest man on the pitch for the remainder of the first half with three fabulous saves that were the talk of the half time interval. As the game opened up in the second half the Racers stopper produced another fine save before Racing finally opened up the scoring. A corner kick from Jervis saw the ball half cleared to Martin Hutchcox who controlled the ball before unleashing a delightful curled shot into the roof of the net from twenty yards. Connor Nowaczyk came on for McKenzie for his last game for Racers before leaving for Sheffield and Vadasz came on for the hard working Jervis. These substitutions created great width and this opened up Pershore. A fine cross from Malley saw Smith hit a bicycle shot over before Malley scored a wonderful goal on 83. Beating his man out wide Malley cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable shot across the keeper to seal the points. The win saw Racers back up to third and with next weekend off they hope to get players back before they entertain Coventry United in the FA Vase on September 10th.
