Racing Club Warwick brushed past Bridgnorth in the FA Vase and will travel to Studley in the next round.
After the dissapointing display against Sphinx on Bank Holiday Monday Racing rang the changes with new signing Tory Herbert slotting into midfield and Adam Miles partnering Joe Smith in a flat back four which had the returning Martin Hutchcox from Atherstone Town.
Curvin Ellis almost had the Racers in front after a poor clearance from Groome in the Bridgnorth goal was closed down by Ellis but the ball just went wide. Bridgnorth chances were few and far between and a Lee strike went well wide before a Grove strike swirled in the wind and Charlie Bannister saved well. Muzzy Nduna had a long range effort and an Ellis header was too straight and saved. Nduna then went on a mazy run and was chopped down on the edge of the box. Ellis curled the resulting free kick into the corner on 32 minutes.
Second half and right from the kick-off a measured long ball from Joe Smith found Nduna who controlled well before laying off for Herbert who struck superbly from 25 yards to score his first goal for Racing. Nduna fed Herbert who's crashing shot was well saved and Ciaron Houston had the rebound parried over the bar. Hutchcox and Danny Fraser were throwing excellent deliveries into the box and Ryan Boothe was unlucky not to get on the end of a Fraser cross. Herbert then got his second after dribbling past two players on the edge of the box he coolly slotted home on 74 minutes. A clever one-two between Fraser and Dale Wigmore saw Fraser whip in a cross which Boothe just failed to get onto. Fraser and Houston combined superbly on the left and Fraser's ball saw Nduna's shot from 18 yards well saved by Groome. On 87 the game was complete when Hutchcox capped a fine Man of the Match performance with another super cross that Boothe superbly volleyed home from six yards.
Racing are home to Gresley on Saturday 7th September.
