Warwick extend unbeaten league run

Racing Club Warwick extended their unbeaten league run to 11 games with a comfortable victory over a recently revived Littleton. The visitors with a new Manager and several new signings had picked up their first point of the season with a draw at high flying Burbage following a narrow defeat against Atherstone and were looking to extend their better form against Warwick.

Racing got off to the best of starts and kept the ball well and it took just 15 minutes to break down the resolute looking Littleton defence. Ben Mackey latched onto a through ball and shot across the keeper who saved well but Jak Jeys followed in to volley home from 6 yards out. Trea Bertie then scored a fabulous team goal after Jak Jeys had layed back a fine cross to Ben Mackey who slotted Bertie through and he slipped the ball past the advancing keeper. Ben Mackey was then fouled just inside the box after holding the ball up well and he stepped up to smash the ball past the diving keeper. With Chris Johnston and Henry Leaver protecting the back line superbly, keeper Charlie Bannister had very little to do in the first period.

Bertie picked up his second goal straight after the break when Jeys fired a threatening cross over which Bertie just failed to get onto but the defender behind tried to control the ball and instead it fell back to Bertie who prodded in from 2 yards out. Warwick hit the bar three times in the space of 2 minutes. First, Wade Malley drove in from the right and crashed a fierce shot off the bar before Henry Leaver's powerful
header struck the bar and then Jeys cut inside to beat 2 players before his rifled shot again struck the crossbar.

Matt Mcgee reduced the visitors arrears on 66 minutes with a fine finish but just 3 minutes later Bertie scored his hat trick to erase any slight fears the hosts may have had. With a trademark turn and drive past the defender he fired the ball hard into the top of the net. Zamora then got another goal after a defensive mix up on 75 but Captain Scott Turner finished off the scoring after a fine lofted cross from Semahimbo found the skipper who fired in from close range.
