Racing Club Warwick followed up on Tuesday's thumping of Studley with a determined display at Leicester Road. Josh Cole, Elliott Powell, Joe Smith, Ryan Billington, Luke Cole and Rich Powell all came into the starting line-up as Scott Easterlow looks to keep things fresh with the three game a week run-in. Warwick started brightly and looked to be on top but Road opened the scoring on 8 minutes from the penalty spot after E Powell brought down Sandhu and Matty Langham cooly slotted home. Just four minutes later Luke Cole fired into the box and Callum Earl under pressure from the busy Wade Malley scored an unfortunate own goal. On 22 minutes Luke Cole provided again, with a measured through ball for Bertie. who's pace got him in ahead of the advancing keeper Highland and he side footed home after rounding the Leicester Road stopper.
Warwick were good value for the lead at half time with Wade Malley's first touch causing Leicester Road a headache time and again, but the second half saw Road on the front foot themselves. Price, Hudson and Church were introduced to bolster the ranks and Road seemed unfortunate when the linesman flagged for offside when an equaliser beckoned and they also hit the woodwork twice late on. Bodies were being thrown on the line with Hutchcox, Smith, Billington and E Powell keeping things tight with R Powell, Slevin and Josh Cole in front protecting and after 9 minutes of injury time the referee blew up to send Racing to Ilkeston Town on Saturday in very high spirits.
