Warwick maintain 100% home record

Racing Club Warwick put Saturday's first defeat of the campaign behind them as they put in a much better display against a resolute Copsewood in blistering heat at Townsend Meadow. Wearing their new Nike kit, with kit sponsors EVP as guests of honour, Warwick had Slevin and Leaver unavailable, so Ellis and Church filled the centre positions with skipper Price and new signing Luke Cole playing behind Adam Knight. Cole showed his worth early on with two great flick-ons which set Knight through but he was adjudged offside on both occasions. Knight then struck a post but again the flag had gone up anyway. Church almost opened the scoring but the keeper saved well before Warwick stopper Cross denied Farrell with two excellent saves. Second half and a corner from Church saw a Cole header crash back off of the bar and a Cole effort was ruled out for handball after he had charged down the keeper's clearance. Manoochehri was then adjudged offside after putting the ball into the net from the left and the bank holiday crowd of 152 must of thought the dead-lock was never going to be broken when a Jack Taylor ball was knocked down for Knight to crash home on 76 minutes. A late Copsewood effort was charged down with the ball looking goal-bound and Price put in a game winning tackle at the death to deny a certain goal but Warwick held on for a deserved three points which sees them move to fifth. Warwick host Heather St john's on Saturday 2nd September.
