Scott Easterlow reflects on historic season

A message from 1st Team Manager Scott Easterlow

"The dust hasn’t quite settled on a remarkable season, but before we all head off for a well-earned rest I wanted to thank everyone. On the results front returning the club back to step 4 football was always the main aim when I first took the job back in 2017. Two promotions later and we have achieved that target of getting this great club back to as high as they have ever been, Something I’m very proud of. Yes, the perfect ending would have been to lift the senior cup last night but it was always going to be a mammoth task and we came up against a side simply superior to us. Take nothing away from the lads though it was a great achievement just being the first step 5 team to reach the final in over 40 years. The support I have from my management team is never undervalued by myself they’re a huge part of the success we have enjoyed this year and the work they put in is unmatched. To succeed in football and for it to be sustainable you need everything to work from the bottom to the top and the everyone at the club have worked tirelessly to get us on that right path. With an enormous amount of hard work from everyone behind the scenes the club has and is continuing to make gigantic strides forward off the pitch, which is such an influential part of football these days, The continued hard work they do increases our appeal to attract the very best players and will definitely increase our chances to be more successful in the future. We have to want it all though and not stop, this time around the promotion feels so much more special, it really feels like we’re on our way and it’s an exciting time for everyone connected to the football club. At the very forefront of my mind is to have the best for everyone, from every junior side, through the academy up past the first team to our walking footballers, I want us to have it all. Everyone is an important part of this football family and should feel so. This is a giant football club and we’re starting to see the potential it has. With success and enjoyment comes growth and we have seen that in lots of positive ways this year but for me the most important one is our fanbase. The home and away crowds continue to grow with new and existing fans now rejuvenated by the club’s success, ambition and inclusivity at all levels. Likewise for me to see so many of our juniors desperate to get to first team games and asking for photos or signatures with first team players is easily the thing that pleases me the most, that’s how you build a foundation for years to come, these young girls and boys are the future of the football club and we have to mould the new era of players and fans for years to come. The support from our fans for me personally and the first team players this season has been immense with crowd numbers that not every club is capable of achieving but with your dedication we are doing that on a regular basis, so a massive thank you to each and everyone of you, long may it continue. As good as this season has been you have to always want more because that’s a winner’s mentality, and ultimately how we will all together create a long lasting legacy
Hope you all have an enjoyable summer.
Up The Racers
Scotty"
