Racing Club Warwick extended their recent up-turn in both form and results against Haughmond, and again picked up good points against the teams looking to close the gap on them.
On a heavy pitch both teams played some good football early on although both defences looked well drilled from the off.
Racing with a settled back four with Luke Edwards and Scott Turner particularly solid, looked comfortable throughout and James Wardle was tested only on a couple of occasions in the first half. Nick Seabourne had an effort saved by the Haughmond Keeper on 37 minutes but this was a temporary reprieve for the visitors as Racing took the lead a minute later. The impressive Tom Smith fired in a cross for Danny Dubidat to nod home at the far post after good movement from the striker to peel away from the defender.
Second half was more of the same in a tight game and an ever boggier pitch. Haughmond tested Wardle on several occasions and some good football in the final third from Haughmond was superbly stopped in its tracks by the impressive Warwick back line.
Sam Jackson entered the fray late on for his Racing debut and showed some promising signs of things to come from the ex Daventry man.
Racing are at home on Saturday versus AFC Wulfrunians and Tuesday versus Romulus.
