Warwick shine as run continues

Racing Club Warwick were dominant at bottom of the table Littleton but took until the 46th minute to open the scoring as they looked to continue their push for promotion.

Warwick looked a little rushed in the first half although their dominance saw them strike the woodwork on four occasions. A superb Luke Cole effort beat ex Racer Caviezel Cox in the Littleton goal but his shot hit the upright before Ben Mackey tucked it home but the linesman flagged for offside. Trea Bertie then got away from the back-line but his hammer shot thundered back off the post. Henry Leaver then hit the bar before Bertie fired over. Leaver was then clattered in the box but the referee waved play on but It was surely only a matter of time before the luck changed and with Littleton looking tired towards the end of the first half it took just a minute after the restart for the Racers to take the lead. Luke Cole was chopped down and Mackey stepped up to fire home and open the flood gates but not before Manager Easterlow introduced three of his new charges. Jack Cresswell, George Curry and Lewis Hayden were brought on early second half and immediately provided more options. Joe Smith fired home from close range on 52 minutes and just a minute later Chris Johnston headed home after Mackey's shot had hit the bar from close range. Hayden and Lewis combined well with Johnston and Bertie who played a delightful one two with Cresswell who rounded the keeper before being brought down. Mackey again blasted the ball home from the spot to make it four and it was now all over. With minimal defending required Marc Passey provided excellent service down the right flank and linked up well with the midfield and delivered some threatening crosses before Mackey looking for his hat trick could easily have teed up for Bertie but Caviezel Cox saved well and the former Racing favourite saved well again from a long range effort from Bertie.

Warwick host Brocton on Saturday and Hinckley on Tuesday 22nd.
