Wellington Amateurs 6 Racing Club Warwick 3

Racing Club Warwick were dumped out of the FA Vase by step 7 outfit Wellington Amateurs on a day to forget in Telford.

As Wellington marked the passing of their Chairman Dave Gregory with a minutes applause they started the game well and within 3 minutes were 2 goals up. Faux opened the scoring after not being closed down and his effort from the edge of the box beat Charlie Bannister through a clutch of players. A minute later and it was 2! A free kick from Scott, Perry climbed unchallenged at the far post to head back across Bannister. Elsmore almost added a third but Bannister saved well and this sparked Warwick into action. Ben Mackey turned well and fired home to pull the first goal back before Jamie Tank hit a great volleyed equaliser. Perry was then red carded for kicking out at Martin Slevin on the floor and the momentum was now surely with Racing. Sam Beesley was taken to hospital for a nasty head cut after a woeful challenge that was not punished by the referee.

Second half and Wade Malley scored a wonderful overhead kick after Ross Quartermaine fed Ryan Billington who's cross was met by Malley's flying boot.

Warwick were now dominant in possession but woeful in ability with the ball given away too easily in the final third and showing a real lack of desire. Wellington hit back and how. Faux capitalised when Warwick left a crossed ball to smash home before Elsmore followed up to nod home after Faux had struck the bar with no Racers following in. Elsmore then too easily cut inside the Warwick defenders to fire home before he again scored on the break to wrap up a shock for Warwick but deserved cup win.
