Malvern Town 1 Racing Club Warwick 2

Racing Club Warwick fought back from a half time deficit to triumph for the second round in succession as the overcome Malvern Town in the FA Cup. Adam Knight started after returning to the club in midweek but Ben Mackey was out after injuring an ankle in the previous round.

In a very under-par first half for Warwick, Malvern dominated and were unlucky not to go into the break with more than the single goal advantage. Wade Malley had fired wide early in the game in Warwick's only real chance before Joshua Hunt opened the scoring for the hosts after a long ball allowed the striker through on goal to beat Charlie Bannister on 14 minutes and Marc Passey cleared off the line as Malvern pressed for a second.

Warwick needed to raise their game second half and right from the off it looked a different match. Malley beat several players on the left but his cross just failed to find a team mate. A scramble and several half hit shots followed and it looked like maybe one of them days before Joe Smith playing right back in his first start of the season following injury fired over an arrow of a ball on 63 minutes for Richard Powell to climb and head superbly back across the keeper and into the far corner. Jubilant scenes were only matched when on 72 minutes Gerard McGahey coolly fired home into the corner.

Warwick were now in control and some intelligent possession football wore down Malvern who were further hindered after an injury reduced them to ten men for the last ten minutes.

Warwick go into the hat for the First Round Qualifying draw for the first time in 19 years on Tuesday.
