Racing Club Warwick returned to second in the table after beating a plucky and well organised Brocton side.
Warwick started brightly with Marc Passey in particular getting a lot of success down the left but it was Wade Malley who followed up his shot which was well initially saved to head home on 24 minutes. It should of been 2 a few minutes later when Joe Smith's shot was cleared off the line but his follow up was hit over the bar.
Charlie Bannister made a fine tip-over save as Brocton got back into the game and got their reward on 41 minutes with a fantastic glanced header from Alex Scott from a corner.
Second Half and Warwick again started the half brightly. The outstanding Chris Johnston protecting the solid Scott Turner and Sean Castleton in the middle were reducing Brocton to play wide and away from danger early doors and Ben Mackey had an opportunity but his shot was blocked before the Racer's top scorer won a penalty with a defender trying to get in front of him but using an arm. Mackey fired in the resulting spot kick on 64 minutes.
The returning Luke Cole and Alex Price bolstered the ranks in midfield mid way through the half and Mackey then scored one of the goals of the season just a few minutes later. Showing strength to chest and turn the defender from a throw in he jinked inside before unleashing an unstoppable curled effort into the far corner.
Instead of being comfortable Warwick again made difficult work seeing out the game with Scott scoring again with his head on 78 minutes and Brocton looked now the more likely to score again.
Bannister produced a fine save a few minutes before the end to preserve the lead and Warwick will be go into next Saturday's clash against Atherstone Town who went top beating Lichfield Town.
