Rampant Racing erase opening day gloom

Racing Club Warwick erased Saturdays opening defeat by dismantling Stapenhill at Townsend Meadow.

Wade Malley headed just wide before Ban Mackey showed superb strength to hold off a challenge before blasting into the net to open the scoring.

Trea Bertie latched onto a superb Alex Price ball to power past three players before the keeper saved well. Mackey curled over but it was only a matter of time before the second goal. Bertie latched onto a fine ball to slip past the keeper and slot home from a tight angle.

Charlie Bannister signed to replace the injured Ryan Young made a fine stop to his left as Stapenhill tried to respond and then saved well at the strikers feet.

Wade Malley constantly threatened the Stapenhill right back before Mackey scored the third after Marc Passey found him clean through to slide home left footed. Mackey almost got his hat trick but the ball went inches wide.

Second half and a fine Malley run set up Luke Cole who shot just wide. Luke Cole then found Bertie in acres of space and he rounded the keeper before dumping a despairing defender onto the floor and tapping home a great goal.

A well worked Price corner found Cole free and his bullet header made it five.

Malley almost made it six after a scintillating run and shot well saved by the keeper.

A nice one two between Mackey and Mike Ellis saw Mackey claim his hat trick after the keeper spilled the ball into his path.

Bertie then got his hat trick after a nice turn and shot that the keeper spilled and the ball just went over the line before he could react.

Martin Slevin headed just wide near the end and it could of been more than seven but Scott Easterlow was clearly happy with his sides response after Saturday.

A superb performance by Warwick who go into Saturday's FA cup game versus Coleshill Town in fine spirits.
