Racing Club Warwick started their league campaign in poor fashion as they threw away a 2-0 and 3-2 lead at Lichfield.
After a satisfying pre-season Warwick got off to the best of starts when in the second minute they were awarded a penalty that Ben Mackey fired home. The Lichfield keeper had to leave the game following the penalty after the force dislocated a finger.
Things got even better after the restart when a superb run from Trea Bertie saw a pin point cross pick out Mackey to fire home his and Warwick's second.
Lichfield came back strong and had the better of play for some 20 minutes, striking a post and missing a couple of half chances before Scott Turner headed over for Warwick.
Second half and the Lichfield pressure told when they scored two goals to bring the game level. Wade Malley fired Warwick back in front with a cool finish and Mackey was inches away from a hatrick but the stand-in keeper made a superb double save.
Seven minutes from time the game was back level and right at the death a City free-kick saw them take the points in an entertaining opener.
