Racers extend their Pre-season unbeaten run in good workout

Racing Club Warwick continued their fine pre-season form with a solid performance against a plucky and well drilled Burbage. Last seasons division 3 champions came to Townsend Meadow having already beaten Coventry Sphinx and Leicester Road and looked every inch a side who will compete again in division 2. With the signing of Adam Knight just before kickoff exciting the fans, Warwick then started brightly with Leaver and Price pulling the strings in midfield with Leaver providing Church and Brown with rich pickings. It was Church who did well down the right to feed Brown who smartly fired past the Burbage Keeper. Burbage had some good possession and only failed to trouble the Racers keeper Cross due to excellent defending from the backline of Carter, Blunsom, Hutchcox and Taylor. Brown nearly doubled the lead after a mazy run but his shot was blocked and Church fired over a low cross that just evaded the Stephens. Warwick had to wait until the second half before gaining a cushion. Brown brilliantly fed Stephens who made no mistake. Burbage reduced the deficit with a well taken shot that flew past Cross and almost equalised but Cross saved well. Bridges then unselfishly fed Church who chested down before looping his shot past the keeper. Racing go to Redditch Borough on Tuesday before ending pre-season at Folly Lane on Saturday.
