Racing look local to spur the growth

Racing Club Warwick have appointed Scott Easterlow as the club's new first-team manager.

Following the resignation of Michael Hayden last September, Warwick appointed an interim management duo of Hayden’s first team coaches, Luke Evans and Gregg Plumb, to oversee affairs until a new manager could be found. With Evan’s looking to focus on the youth team and with the club looking to grow locally and to utilise local players, applications, which had been garnished over the course of several months, were considered, and, after interviews yesterday evening Scott was appointed on Tuesday.

Chairman Gary Vella said: "Luke and Gregg have both done a great job for us over the last seven months and the successful league placing is testament to their coaching abilities. Luke had stated his desire to pursue with the club vision of developing local players and has stepped back to concentrate on the youth team role, which we are delighted with. Gregg was considered for the role of first team manager, however, following a meeting to discuss his plans for next season, we felt that he did not demonstrate the necessary experience, or more importantly, the local network that we considered essential for the post. Everyone at Racing Club wishes him success in the future and thanks him for his commitment this season”.

Easterlow joins Racing Club after ending a successful three season spell with Stockton which saw them win promotion to the Premier Division, enjoying cup success along the way. Scott enjoyed a playing career with Alveston, Leamington Brakes, Rugby Town, Coventry Copeswood and Racing Club themselves before starting his coaching career at Stratford Town Youth. A spell as assistant manager at Kenilworth Town followed, before a league winning spell as reserve team manager of Whitnash Town and on to the successful spell with Stockton.

Vice-Chairman Phil Haycock commented, "Scott and his new management team have the full support of the club and we are looking forward to developing the fine set of players we have from within, as well as recruiting the local talent that we believe is the future of this club, with a view to promotion to step five as soon as we can”.

Further appointments to Easterlow’s backroom staff will be announced shortly alongside the management team for the Under 21 development side.
