All eyes on the Cup this weekend

Racing Club Warwick manager Ryan Cranton we welcome a rest from league action this weekend at his side take part in the FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round at Townsend Meadow against Thurnby Nirvana.

The Racers have lost in their previous three league matches in the build up to this Vase fixture against their East Midlands Counties opponents who in contrast to the Warwick club have had an excellent start to the season.

Robinson clinches debut consolation goal

The Racers succumbed to another defeat on Monday evening against an impressive Nuneaton Griff side who controlled much of the game.

After witnessing the Warwick club go down 6-0 against Coventry Copsewood two days earlier a 100-strong crowd would no doubt have been hoping for a much-improved showing on Bank Holiday Monday but any hopes were soon dashed when Nuneaton took the lead after 16 minutes.

Racers outclassed by Copsewood

Coventry Copsewood were 6-0 winners at Townend Meadow as Racing Club Warwick failed to make any impact against their near neighbours.

The Racers gifted goals to their visitors and were made to pay for several defensive errors as Copsewood continued with playing direct football effectively. Chances were few and far between for the hosts and rarely tested for the visiting keeper.

'No excuses' says Cranton

Racing Club Warwick manager Ryan Cranton refused to make excuses for his sides first defeat at the season as they went down 2-1 away to Pelsall Villa.

Several key players were missing from Saturday's squad including Joey Holland, Nick Ford and James Urquhart, but Cranton said his side were simply not good enough on the day.

New look Racers kitted out

New tracksuits, player bags and other kit was presented to each Racing Club Warwick player last Thursday by the new management committee thanks to the help of various local sponsors.

Club President Anne Mellor and Chairman Bob Dhillon have been in charge at the club for only a few weeks and already improvements have been seen around Townsend Meadow.

Pre-season friendlies announced

Racing Club Warwick have annouced their first two confirmed pre-season friendlies in July against Midland Combination Division One opponents.

The Racers will travel to Coton Green on Saturday 17th July and a week later travel to West Midland Police on Saturday 24th July, both 3pm kick off.

Midland Combination Premier bottom club Racing Club Warwick have survived the drop due to the standard of Townsend Meadow and axed 10 of the 16 man squad that finished the season.

The Racers have offered preseason training to 6 players from last season and will look to bring in at least 14 new faces for the 2010/11 campaign.
